Michigan’s largest wind farm to date, 213 MW, is now being built near Breckenridge. Eighty or more turbines have been installed. When finished, there will be 133 1.6 MW GE turbines in the wind farm. (more…)

The State of Michigan adopted ASHRAE Energy Standard 90.1-2007 in early March, 2011, leap-frogging past ICC 2006, which referenced Standard 90.1-2004. The state’s building code still referenced Standard 90.1-1999. (more…)
On December 14, 2010, PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) Bond legislation was signed into law by Governor Jennifer Granholm. The bill only covers commercial real property so it should not run afoul of the FHFA, Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, the agencies most opposed to such financing. It’s widely believed Ann Arbor will be the first city to implement a program involving PACE Bonds since Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County officials were instrumental in its support and passage. (more…)

The new American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Building Energy Performance Assessment (BEPA) Standard just came out on February 10, 2011. This Standard establishes a methodology for building energy use data collection and its compilation and analysis. (more…)
