Organization’s Description
Seven Ponds Nature Center serves Southeast Michigan as a sanctuary for native plants and animals, an environmental education center, and a peaceful retreat for its visitors.
In 1967, Seven Ponds Nature Center was created to provide a special setting for anyone seeking and understanding and appreciation of nature. Since then, more than a half million people, including several hundred thousand children, have taken part in the center’s programs. Today, Seven Ponds’ role is as important as ever. The nature center’s 486 acres of glacial lakes, marshes, swamps, fields, prairie, and woodlands provide a sanctuary for many kinds of plants and animals. These areas are an ideal setting for environmental education, and the center offers a variety of programs on natural history, ecology, and local heritage. Seven Ponds also serves as a peaceful retreat for those looking to get away from the fast-paced world we all live in.
