SUMMARY:RRRASOC Household Hazardous Waste Event
DESCRIPTION:Southfield\, MI – Residents in RRRASOC’s nine member communities of Farmington\, Farmington Hills\, Milford\, Milford Township\, Novi\, South Lyon\, Southfield\, Walled Lake and Wixom have the opportunity to get rid of unwanted and unused household hazardous waste\, have documents shredded and/or drop off items for Simple Recycling. This event will take place on Saturday\, April 10\, 2021 at the Department of Public Works 2041 Charms Road in Wixom between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. \nProviding residents with a free\, safe way to dispose of household hazardous waste items\, unwanted clothing and household goods and the proper disposal of personal information is an effective way to protect people and the environment. \nHousehold Hazardous Waste – Items accepted at collection events include oil-based paint\, solvents\, automotive fluids\, household cleaners\, lawn and garden chemicals\, batteries\, fluorescent light bulbs and unused and expired medications. Residents may also bring unwanted and broken electronics. Items NOT accepted include latex paint\, explosives\, smoke detectors\, radioactive waste\, or commercial/business waste. \nHandle household hazardous waste products with care. Keep products in original containers and don’t mix products together. Containers should be tightly sealed\, packed in a box in an upright\, stable position and transported in the trunk of a car or bed of a truck. \nPaper Shredding – Residents can bring up to three (3) boxes or 100 pounds for shredding. \nSimple Recycling – Items accepted include unwanted clothing\, shoes\, accessories\, and other household discards such as kitchenware\, tools\, toys\, and books for a complete list visit the Clothing and Textile page at www.rrrasoc.org. Please bag items if appropriate.
