Take Back the Tap at Central Michigan University’s goal is to implement a more sustainable way of living by promoting the use of reusable water bottles on campus, supporting new retro-fit kits (new water fountains) being built, and ending the sale of bottled water on campus. We educate the student body of the environmental, health, and financial aspects of bottled water. We meet Tuesdays at 7:00pm in Brooks 201 on the campus of Central Michigan University.
Currently, we present to classrooms and other clubs on campus to educate people who we are, what we are doing, and why. Education is the most important, we need campus wide support if we are going to make a change towards sustainable living!
We also fundraise to promote the installation of the new Retro-Fit Kits across campus. This gives students and staff an efficient and convenient way of accessing a good source of water!
Food and Water Watch is our National parent organization. Through them, we have a petition that simply states that those who sign it are in support of our mission. Currently, we have over 2,000 signatures!
Another goal we have is to supply free, BPA- free reusable water bottles to all residential students on campus. We are currently working with Campus Dining to achieve this!
In the mean time, we have and ongoing fundraiser in partnership with Student for Service Learning where we are selling BPA-free reusable water bottles for only $5! They have the Take Back the Tap and Students for Service Learning logos on them!
