And this year the need is great, especially for those families struggling with unemployment, illness and stress caused by the pandemic. Please help us make this holiday extra special for local children by donating to the toy drive.

Five Projects Win ESD’s 2017 Construction & Design Award Plus Three Honorable Mentions

The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) has chosen five projects to receive the 2017 Construction & Design Award. The winners will be recognized during ESD’s Annual Dinner on June 21 at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth.

In its 43rd year, the prestigious Construction and Design Awards are among the premier recognitions awarded to members of the construction industry and their projects. These awards are unique in that they honor the three primary members of the building team: owners, designers and constructors – and recognize outstanding team achievement and innovative use of technology.

Newman Tapped for PACE Financing Panel

Jim Newman will be a guest panelist at the DTE/ESD Energy Efficiency Conference and Exhibition. He is the “surprise guest” of Andy Levin, president of Levin Energy Partners and founder of Lean & Green Michigan, on the topic “PACE Financing for Any Industry.”

PACE financing, or Property Assessed Clean Energy, solves the twin problems that have long plagued comprehensive deep energy retrofits: large up-front costs and long pay-backs. In this session, Jim joins Andy to give concrete examples of how PACE helps transform buildings of many shapes, sizes and uses. In addition attendees will hear from owners of two very different buildings where Newman Consulting Group is currently conducting energy-conserving retrofits.

DTE Energy is partnering with The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) to recognize and support energy efficiency technology innovation for its commercial, light industrial and municipal electric customers through the DTE Energy E-Challenge III Competition. This competition seeks innovative energy efficiency technology demonstration opportunities in advanced control systems. The competition encourages demonstration projects that integrate energy efficiency solutions through collaborations, bring under-utilized energy efficiency products to DTE Energy’s electric service area, or accelerate the commercialization of Michigan-based energy technologies.More
