For the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office (MFDMO), it’s simply time to get creative when it comes to persuading those who work in the creative industries to stay in Michigan, or by all means, move to the Great Lakes state.
In response to contemporary job consideration realities – such as Millennials wanting to live, work and play in vibrant, engaging communities – MFDMO is introducing Creative Chambers initiative, a grassroots-driven, pilot grant program to retain and attract creative industries talent in five diverse Michigan communities, including Grand Rapids.

Michigan Film and Digital Media Office (MFDMO) has been named educational partner for this year’s Freep Film Festival. The fourth annual event produced by the Detroit Free Press showcases documentary films, especially those with strong connections to Michigan. The festival will be held March 30-April 2 primarily at venues in downtown and Midtown Detroit, along with locations in Royal Oak and Novi.

Medical Lifestyle Show Produced in Farmington Hills Studio Attracts International Audiences
LANSING, Mich. – For the fourth consecutive year, “Ask Dr. Nandi” has qualified for an incentive award from the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office. The medical lifestyle show hosted by Dr. Partha Nandi airs on seven networks in 79 countries and boasts an audience of 85 million viewers. The show combines medical advice with informal conversations about fitness and nutrition.
The $1,153,754 award for “Ask Dr. Nandi” anticipates spin-off spending of $5,310,900 and projects the creation of 44 jobs, which equate to 70 full-time positions. The show is recorded at a studio in Farmington Hills.
“’Ask Dr. Nandi’ has connected with audiences, and has presented health-care information in an accessible format,” said Jenell Leonard, commissioner of the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office. “Filming in Michigan, the show has attracted work for the state production community, and has had a positive impact on the local economy.”More
