Organization’s Description

Operation Clean Water was created by the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department Wholesale Customer Outreach Public Education Work Group that includes individuals from wholesale customers (Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties), DWSD, MDEQ and SEMCOG and consultants. It publishes articles on how DWSD and its suburban wholesale customers manage our water and sewer infrastructure to protect public health and the environment.

The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department has been collaborating with its wholesale customers on a variety of issues through an outreach process since 1997. The effort encompasses a Water Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), a Wastewater Steering Committee and their related work groups that include staff from DWSD, wholesale water and wastewater customers, SEMCOG and MDEQ. Operation Clean Water was created by the Wholesale Customer Outreach Public Education Work Group to keep suburban communities and their customers abreast of issues impacting our water and sewer systems. A variety of documents about our water and sewer infrastructure have been published. Reuse of these materials in other publications is strongly encouraged to provide accurate information to the public.
