Bio: Sam Hogg conceived GiftZip.com in an MBA supply chain class in 2008. The internet business was an aggregation platform for electronically deliverable gift cards, similar in concept to a gift card kiosk in a grocery store but completely online. Within a year GiftZip.com was selling e-gift cards for 200 of the largest retailers in the world. In July 2011, after 36 months of operation, the East Lansing-based company was purchased by SVM LP of Chicago, the global leader in innovative gift card solutions. Sam currently leads early stage investments in energy/IT technologies for Detroit-based NextEnergy, managing their seed fund and being a general partner of Nth Power Fund IV, a $180M San Francisco-based energy tech fund. He is an adjunct instructor at Albion College and is a monthly contributor for an early stage finance column inEntrepreneur Magazine.
