The Oakland County Employment Diversity Council (OCEDC), an organization promoting Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace through instruction, seminars and conferences, announced today that its 11th annual Women In Leadership Summit, with the theme, “The Influence of Women: Our Voices, Our Victories,” will take place Thursday, Mar. 28, 2013 at the Oakland Schools Conference Center in Waterford, Mich.
The Summit annually hosts successful women in leadership positions who represent a variety of industries and share the strategies and philosophies they’ve used to achieve success in their careers. The women who attend are at different stages of their career, and are interested in gaining additional knowledge and insight on how to build successful careers.
“We are excited to be conducting our 11th annual Women In Leadership Summit and introduce our audience to the great lineup of speakers and presenters we’ve assembled this year,” said Frank Russell, Chairman of OCEDC. “Each of our featured presenters are highly successful in their chosen careers, and our audience is sure to benefit from their wisdom and experience.”
This year’s keynote speaker is Ellen Hill Zeringue, vice president of marketing for the Detroit Tigers. Ms. Zeringue enters her fourth full season in her current role and 13th season with the Tigers. She oversees all functions of the club’s marketing and promotions departments, including print and broadcast advertising, in-game entertainment and promotional giveaways.
As vice president of marketing, Zeringue manages the club’s branding strategy and was responsible for the launch of the Tigers’ successful ’Who’s Your Tiger’ campaign, which served as the club’s marketing slogan from 2005-08 and returned in 2011.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA and is a member of the college’s alumni association. She also holds a certificate of public relations from the New York University School of Continuing Education Management Institute in New York.
The Summit will also include a panel discussion on Diversity in the workplace, moderated by Janet Howard, Deputy Director of Workforce Development for the State of Michigan.
Ms. Howard is responsible for the programmatic operation of nearly $300 million of federal and state funded workforce and educational programs and initiatives that assist employers and job seekers preparing to meet the increasingly competitive demands of the global economic market of today and the future.
