This free workshop teaches how to capture rainwater from roofs into barrels for use in gardens, landscaping, or car washing, saving up to 40 percent of your water bill. In addition to helping save money on water bills, it keeps polluted runoff from entering the region’s aging sewer system.
The workshop will take place at Rivard Plaza on Detroit’s beautiful river walk (1340 Atwater Street). The workshop is free; however if you want to make a rain barrel to take home, you must purchase your barrel(s) by July 23. Rain barrels can be purchased at a discounted price of $50; visit the website www.mirainbarrel.com/signup.
