New nonprofit organization officers, directors and members are invited to register for one of the informative Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Corporations Division seminars in Lansing. The seminars cover a wide variety of topics including director and officers duties and responsibilities, indemnification, charitable solicitations, financing, tax issues, filing requirements and record keeping.
The remaining seminars for 2014 will be held on September 25, and October 23 at the LARA Corporations, Securities, and Commercial Licensing Bureau, Corporations Division office in Okemos, located at 2501 Woodlake Circle, Okemos MI, from 12:30pm to 4:30pm.
Presenters for the seminars are from LARA, the Consumer Protection and Charitable Trust Division of the Michigan Office of Attorney General, and the Michigan Department of Treasury. Printed materials provided at the seminar include a resource notebook, LARA brochures, and IRS booklets and forms.
There is a non-refundable fee of $50.00 per person for attending the seminar, due within five days of registration. Class sizes are limited; interested parties are encouraged to submit their registration at least two weeks prior to the seminar.
Checks are to be made payable to the State of Michigan and can be mailed along with a copy of the registration form to: LARA, Corporations Division, P.O. Box 30054, Lansing, MI., 48909, within five days of submitting the request.
