Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Corporations, Securities & Commercial Licensing Bureau (CSCL), Corporations Division today announced new online assumed name renewals. Eligible corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships can now renew their assumed names online.
In September of this year, Certificates of Renewal of Assumed Name were sent to those business entities whose assumed names will expire December 31, 2014. Between October 1 and December 31 the corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships who received these Certificates may renew assumed names online for an additional five years.
Payments can be made by Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card.
Individuals who are authorized to file the assumed name renewal on behalf of the business entity must have the six-digit corporate identification number assigned by the Corporations Division. If you do not have the six-digit number, you may locate it using Business Entity Search.
Once the renewal is filed online, the Certificate of Renewal of Assumed Name and updated
expiration date can be viewed through the Business Entity Search at www.michigan.gov/entitysearch within 48 hours.
All corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships, using an assumed name in a joint venture or partnership must file the assumed name renewal simultaneously. At this time, the renewal for these business entities can only be submitted by mail, through MICH-ELF, or in-person at the CSCL office. As always, all assumed names can be renewed by mail, through MICH-ELF, or in-person at CSCL’s office.
If there are any questions regarding the online assumed name renewal process, please contact the Corporations Division by email at corpsmail@michigan.gov or at (517) 241-6470.
