Magna Seating of America Inc., DBA Shelby Foam Systems, was selected by Macomb County officials as “Best in Business” for Energy Efficiency in 2014 for implementing several energy-saving projects, including LED lighting. Lumerica, a developer and manufacturer of LED lighting products is proud to have provided LED light fixtures and retrofits for the facility.
LED parking lot fixtures and wallpacks on the exterior were complemented by LED T8 retrofits from manufacturing partner Toggled on the production floor. After installation, lighting electricity consumption was reduced by 60%. “We were able to reduce the amount of fixtures within the plant while actually increasing the light output,” said Bill Hawk, Facility Engineer. “The new lighting looks amazing inside and out, and we are certainly looking forward to not replacing bulbs and ballasts as frequently.” For more information about the LED lighting project, please visit http://www.lumerica.com/case-study/magna-international/
Other energy-efficiency projects at the Shelby Foam Systems plant included VSD air compressor, process cooling and e-waste recycling. 18,000 businesses are located in Macomb County, of which only 6 were selected to receive “Best in Business” recognition for 2014.
