The energy was high as hundreds of people gathered the foggy Sunday morning of May 17th at Lake St. Clair’s Metro Park in Harrison Township for CARE of Southeast Michigan’s 3rd Annual Bike Path fundraiser. By afternoon, the sun and breeze were a perfect mix for supporting he event.

This year 450 total riders with 143 people up for the challenge at 7 a.m. to engage in the new 60 mile route to Belle Isle and back. Fraser’s Richards Middle School Drum Line amped up the riders at as they started their 25, 10, and 2 mile challenges.
The Kiwanis Club volunteered their time and efforts to the children’s bike parade and decorating, and Big Don shaped balloons as Blue Diamond Entertainment provided upbeat music through the day.
“This year I volunteered to assist with Bike Path as this organization assist individuals and families with addiction issues,” stated Amy Flannery, attorney, cycling enthusiast and avid volunteer. “Unfortunately, addiction is everywhere in society regardless of wealth and station in life. I have seen families torn apart by addition and I believe that this organization will assist those who are struggling with this disease. As a result, I volunteered for bike path to support this organization’s mission and purpose.”
Among this years nearly 30 sponsors were Macomb County Prosecutor, Eric Smith, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Michigan, HAP, Talmer Bank, Fraser Bicycle, and GreeningDetroit.com. Along with a 50/50 raffle, Fraser Bicycle and Tim’s Bike Shop of St. Claire Shores each donated a bike to be raffled. Hosted by the International Association of Holistic Providers, several massage therapists from Hand & Stone and natural healers from various cities around the Metro Detroit area were on hand to provide free services to attendees and riders. Refreshments were provided by various companies around the area
All proceeds will go to support their family focused programs.
