A Sophomore with a major in Transportation Design at the College For Creative Studies and living in Midtown, Miss Dougherty is also a Residential Assistant at the college. On the deans list her freshman year, her interests continue to be art, math, science and engineering. With an extreme interest in cars, she won a Gold Key award for art design at the Scholastic competition her high school junior year, received an invitation to visit CCS, and participated in a workshop sponsored by General Motors. Accepted on the spot during her portfolio review, she found her passion and received the maximum academic scholarship available. Jill is now studying to become a transportation designer, wholly interested in the form and function of vehicles. Considering the focus of her studies is mostly aesthetic and art based, Jill still enjoys coming up with interesting concepts and new solutions to problems. With the new eco friendly and autonomous vehicles creating evolutionary changes in the industry, Jill is excited to be involved in the new transportation revolution.
It’s apparent that Detroit’s schools and it’s youth still have a lot to offer the world by way of manufacturing, technology and design. Our roots in the transportation industry and our legacy as the Motor City capital continues to run deep. GreeningDetroit.com is ready to showcase that ability in Jill Dougherty, her generation, and continue the campaign annually.
GreeningDetroit.com Senior Chief Correspondent Robert Mattler and photographers Jim Klein and Cecelia Wells are enthused to work with such a young and fresh talent as Miss Dougherty. Their continual coverage will be available in the Transportation section of GreeningDetroit.com and it’s affiliates.
