At just 7 weeks old, Malibu been through a whole lot. This teensy girl suffered a broken back leg, and she was relinquished to our shelter because her owner couldn’t afford her medical costs.
The leg was so severely broken that our veterinarian friends recommended amputation. Now being fostered by Dr. Hollie Rebo from VetSelect, she is recovering wonderfully. And her prognosis is excellent. Because of her age and spunkiness, she will adjust to three wheels and thrive.
Mighty Malibu is one of three babies who has needed surgeries in the past few weeks. Carter, a 13-week-old German Shepherd pup, required a leg amputation and Avery, a 6-week-old abandoned kitten, had eye removal surgery.
How can YOU help:

•Please donate now to our Hope’s Heroes fund. This fund is specifically restricted for our pups and kitties in medical peril.
•Malibu says, “Meows for being my hero!”
Fourth of July celebrations are fun for humans, but the chaos and commotion may spark fear in some pets. Plus, did you know that more pets get lost on July 4th than any other day of the year?
Consider the following, and read more about 4th of July safety tips.
1.Do not take your pet to firework displays
2.Leave a television or radio playing at normal volume to keep him company while you’re attending Fourth of July picnics, parades, and other celebrations.
3.Do not leave your dog unattended in the yard. Even the calmest pooch might bolt if frightened.
