“Do or do not. There is no try.” Besides for the fact that the three foot tall puppet who first spoke that now overused quote was green (Yoda from Star Wars), what does a clever pop-culture reference have to do with you or Greening Detroit?
It’s time to turn the “boring newsletter” stereotype upside down and focus on the areas that most affect your life; health, action, and intent.
In alignment with Greening Detroit’s mission of promoting green businesses and healthful events ,this months newsletter is focused on fitness, family, fun, and nutrition.
So don’t try to get in better shape. Don’t try to be more environmentally conscientious. Current and future clients, don’t try to successfully promote your earth and business friendly events. Plan your priorities, destroy your doubts, and do!
Did you know that, when compared by calorie, Broccoli has twice as much protein as steak? Neither did I. On Thursday, September 8th, from 6:30PM – 8:30PM, you can learn from three incredible experts in nutrition how even a small change to your diet can change your life.
Ride your bike to help break the cycle of addiction, ride for a great cause, for great exercise and socializing or, best yet, all of the above. After all, when was the last time you saw a bunch of grumpy faces on a group of cyclists? On September 24th, from 8:30AM – 3:30PM, at Lake St. Clair Metro Park, join us as we ride the 4th Annual Bike PATH: Ride for Recovery, presented by CARE of Southeastern Michigan.
Our newest fitness focused client, Stange Sports, is hungry to demonstrate just how much fun exercise can be. They are offering incredible end-of-season savings on Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) group tours, lessons, and rentals for the entire month of September (while the water is still warm). Remember how much fun you had playing volleyball at your last outdoor event? Don’t feel like you must join an expensive league or fear that you aren’t “good enough” to play. Stange Sports offers friendly pick-up (meaning you show up and there is always a team to join) volleyball every Friday evening, all year long (indoor in Troy, outdoor sand in Warren and Royal Oak) for every skill level. And finally, if you want to take weight loss to the next level, Stange Sports will be hosting a free family friendly event focused on fitness boot camp, yoga and acro (group) yoga, bubble soccer, and more. Be sure to watch out for next month’s newsletter for details.
So, have you decided yet? Are you going to try to become more active in both your community and your life, or will September be the month you do something about it?
What can you commit to and add to your calendar today? Beginning this weekend, are you most interested in a family friendly Labor Day event, nutrition, cycling for a cause, or fitness activities so fun you’ll forget you’re even exercising?
