I’m supporting John Austin for State Board of Education this November, and I want to let you know why.
John has been an unwavering advocate for making high-quality education available to everyone. He has fought for higher learning standards in our classrooms, including 21st science and engineering, and the support our educators need to deliver these standards. He’s led Michigan’s work to make higher education an attainable goal for all.
John has also been a champion for equality in our schools. The State Board, under John’s leadership, just passed guidance that will help schools give Michigan’s LGBT students the support they need thrive. His opponents fought the guidance, arguing that LGBT kids don’t deserve equal dignity and respect. We need John’s continued leadership to keep putting Michigan on the right side of history.
