The Michigan Department of Natural Resources today announced that the Belle Isle Park Advisory Committee will meet Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Belle Isle Nature Zoo, 176 Lakeside Drive, in Detroit. The public meeting will take place from 9 to 11 a.m.
The meeting agenda is available online and includes:
- General updates, including law enforcement, infrastructure planning and events.
- Belle Isle Iron Belle trailhead discussion.
- Updates from the Belle Isle Conservancy.
- Public comments.
Following the meeting, an official opening to celebrate Belle Isle’s first accessible playground will start at 11:30 a.m. This new nature-themed playground is the first on the island to comply with access guidelines under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act. It’s all thanks to a generous gift from the Sigma Gamma Foundation. The public is welcome.
The Belle Isle Park Advisory Committee advises the state on implementation of improvements, master planning and public safety for Belle Isle Park. For information on the committee and the complete meeting agenda, visit theBelle Isle Park Advisory Committee website.
