Wigs 4 Kids, founded in 2003, provides wigs and support services to Michigan children experiencing hair loss as a result of illness & treatment. Our program is available to any child or teen, ages 3 to 18 at no cost to them or their families.

In June of 2010, Wigs 4 Kids opened a Wellness Center that utilizes cutting-edge green technology. In the construction phase natural materials were used. From bamboo flooring to non-toxic paint on the walls, we are committed to providing a healthy setting for our guests while remaining eco-friendly.

We reach out to the community to support Wigs 4 Kids asking them to donate their hair, all of which is recycled into the making of wigs for the children we serve. We even recycle our paper and reuse it for gift basket filler to use at fundraising events. Paper made only from recycled content and soy-based printer cartridges are purchased. We speak weekly at different schools to reach out to faculty and kids in need of our services, educating the children so that they will embrace their peers and become part of the solution instead of the problem, aiding in social acceptance.

Green technology and materials remain to cost about a third more to purchase and the lack of knowledge and information by contractors inflates their fees for service. Due to this, it is frowned upon for the non-profit sector to invest funds into going green. Wigs 4 Kids is not willing to compromise the health and well-being of the children and is proud to contribute to a brighter greener future for Michigan.
