Many adoptable animals in the Dearborn Animal Shelter await the day they find a home to call their own. This summer is no exception, especially as rescued cats and kittens continue to flow into the Shelter at an unprecedented rate.
To help encourage prospective pet owners to consider adopting, Westborn Mall offered to be the host venue for a special one day Adopt-A-Thon, taking place this Saturday, August 17th from 10am-5pm. Located at the intersection of Outer Drive and Michigan Avenue, Westborn Mall is very accessible with lots of traffic during the busy Back to School shopping window.
Elaine Greene, Executive Director, Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter said, “Back to School is known as a busy shopping time and it’s a great time to consider bringing home a new pet family member. Summer vacations are beginning to wind down and your home gets back into a routine, a good time for a furry companion. We hope to find matches this Saturday for homeless animals and families looking for a new loved one.”
The Adopt-A-Thon will be under a large tent in the parking lot in front of Westborn Mall.
Along with the adoptable animals, the Shelter will have adoption counselors on hand, a meet and greet area and reduced adoption fees Saturday only. There will be specials in the Mall from participating retailers and a radio station appearance from 2pm-4pm by WDVD 96.3.FM’s on-air talent Dana from “Blaine & Allyson in the Morning”.
