Automation Alley, Michigan’s largest technology business association, has welcomed a new tenant, ALTEN (www.alten.com) of France, to its International Business Center. Based in Paris, the company provides engineering and technology consulting for large corporate clients in the industrial, telecommunications and services sectors.
Automation Alley’s International Business Center, located inside Automation Alley Headquarters in Troy, provides up to 90 days of soft landing space for international companies to use as a home base while exploring opportunities to do business in Southeast Michigan.
ALTEN has approximately 16,000 employees, with 38 percent being automotive and aerospace engineers. The company was referred to Automation Alley by Oakland County. Guiseppe Santangelo, ALTEN technology regional vice president, hopes to make Southeast Michigan the company’s permanent home in the near future.
“ALTEN is the latest in a long list of international companies Automation Alley is helping to set up shop in Southeast Michigan. In November, we welcomed Germany-based ATeVi into our International Business Center. Our association has a track record for attracting tech companies from around the globe to our region, helping to diversify our economy and create jobs,” said Automation Alley Executive Director Ken Rogers.
Since 2011, Automation Alley has assisted eight foreign companies in establishing their operations in Southeast Michigan, which has created 371 well-paying, high-value jobs for the region.
“Automation Alley was a wonderful surprise for me. They are helping me in a delicate moment for ALTEN Technologies, USA,” said Santangelo, who will head the North American office. “Ken Rogers has been so proactive in helping me immediately find a place to start the business here. In the meantime, I am looking for a suitable office for us.”
Automation Alley’s 3,200-square-foot International Business Center includes three meeting rooms with state-of-the-art communications technology, three private offices, an open office area and convenient access to Automation Alley’s International Business Services staff.
In addition to temporary office space, tenants of the International Business Center receive assistance with site selection and introductions to potential business partners, clients and employees to jump-start their business.
