Media representatives are invited to attend a showcase event to announce the 2014 Michigan Social Entrepreneurship Challenge winners on Friday, June 20 at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit.
The Showcase is the culminating event of the 2014 Michigan Social Entrepreneurship Challenge, the nation’s first statewide business plan competition for emerging social enterprises led by Michigan Corps in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and numerous business and philanthropic sponsors. Over the last three months, 280 companies have competed for $60,000 in prizes to advance their causes.
The Showcase will run from 1:00 – 7:00pm, and will feature the state’s leading entrepreneurs and investors motivated to address Michigan’s toughest social challenges including but not limited to chronic unemployment, health and nutrition, the environment, urban revitalization, and education.
Finalists will present their ventures from 4 – 5:30pm, followed by an awards ceremony from 6:00 – 7:00pm, during which winners will be announced. The audience will have an opportunity to vote for a $1,000 People’s Choice Award, sponsored by the United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
