Thanks to assistance from Automation Alley, Michigan’s largest technology business association, another international company is setting up shop in Southeast Michigan. Automation Alley International Business Center tenant Fooke of Germany has found a permanent location in Pontiac and is looking to hire local employees.
“We are pleased to see another one of our tenant companies find a home in Southeast Michigan,” said Noel Nevshehir, Automation Alley’s director of International Business Services. “By attracting international companies to our region, introducing them to potential business partners, and helping them find a permanent location, we are driving local economic growth and helping to create new jobs in our region.”
Fooke, a family-owned business for more than 100 years, develops milling machines for a number of industries including aerospace, automotive, railway and mold and die.
“One of our main interests was to incorporate a subsidiary here in the United States,” said Matthias Hofmann, CEO of Fooke USA. “Automation Alley has been a huge help for me and for Fooke. Going into a foreign country with a new business, I was given directives, information and help in a manner I didn’t expect. We never expected to be so successful to move into a new office building so quickly.”
Hofmann said the new location in Pontiac will employ about 25 people, including several specialized technicians.
Since 2011, Automation Alley has assisted 12 foreign companies with establishing their operations in Southeast Michigan, which has created 433 jobs for the region.
Automation Alley’s International Business Center, located inside Automation Alley Headquarters in Troy, provides soft landing space for international companies to use as a home base for up to 90 days while exploring opportunities to do business in Southeast Michigan. The 3,200-square-foot space includes three meeting rooms with state-of-the-art communications technology, three private offices, an open office area and convenient access to Automation Alley’s International Business Services staff.
In addition to temporary office space, tenants of the International Business Center receive assistance with site selection and introductions to potential business partners, clients and employees to jump-start their business.
