Back in 2012, Takeru Kobayashi ate 337 wings in front of 20,000 people at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia setting a national record. This Labor Day Weekend, Michigan residents will attempt to top that feat again at the 2017 Michigan Chicken Wing Festival at Adado Riverfront Park, Downtown Lansing.
On September 1st – 3rd, the Michigan Chicken Wing Festival will embark on their third year as a host of National “Wing Bowls” spanning across America. Complete with live entertainment, community vending, beer, wine and a host of events for the kids including: obstacle courses, face painting, bounce houses, carnival games, an adult zone filled with activities for those that are a kid at heart and more; weekend activities will culminate with a Hip Hop and EDM Concert on Sunday, Sept. 3rd with NIPSEY HUSSLE, CURREN$Y DJ AFTERTHOUGHT, Ceo Carter, Likwuid, Telephon9, JD RaveMan, Dj E Nyce and more.
Festival Organizer, Shirley M. Carter of Phenomenal Entertainment Ltd. has spread her wings beyond bringing the first city-wide attraction during Labor Day Weekend since 1999, she has also attached a worthy cause in taking up the reigns of supporting Breast Cancer Survivors. According to the Center for Disease Control, over 124,000 cases of breast cancer emerge yearly in the state of Michigan since 2011.
The Michigan Chicken Wing Festival gates open at 12 Noon until 10PM on Friday – Sept. 1st and 12 Noon until 11PM on Saturday – Sept. 2nd and Sunday Concert – 2PM to 11:45PM. All festival activities will take place at Adado Riverfront Park, located at 201 E. Shiawassee, Lansing, MI 48933. The mission of the Michigan Chicken Wing Festival is to promote unity through food and music. The event involves bringing together a culturally diverse agenda to the community at- large to experience a wide variety of food vendors, musical artists and merchant vendors from across the state.
