Peter-Lacke USA — the first U.S. subsidiary of Peter-Lacke GmbH and the most recent graduate of the Automation Alley International Business Center — moved into their new 20,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Troy in July and have already created 12 new jobs in Michigan, with growth plans to at least double in size over the next three to five years. With manufacturing scheduled to begin this month, Peter-Lacke USA will celebrate their grand opening Oct. 13-15.
Organizers of the popular annual MI Earth Day Fest will launch a new event series, the Healthy People & Planet Wellness Festival, at the Royal Oak Farmers Market this fall and winter. Jody Caldwell, P.E. has been appointed as the Oakland County representative for the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department’s (DWSD) Board of Water Commissioners. Effective this month, Caldwell’s appointment replaces J. Bryan Williams, who recently resigned.
Great Lakes Commissioners from the eight Great Lakes states and two Canadian provinces today endorsed a plan to reduce nutrient loadings and diminish problems like harmful algal blooms, toxic cyanobacteria, anoxic zones and other problems in Lake Erie. A joint action plan developed by the Commission’s Lake Erie Nutrient Targets (LENT) Working Group proposes phosphorus reduction targets and a set of 10 steps to achieve the targets.
