MEDC supports growth of tech companies, entrepreneurs in Michigan
Tech entrepreneurs are on the rise in Michigan and playing an increasingly prominent role in Michigan’s economy, with the number of tech start-up companies in Michigan more than tripling over the past four years, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced today.More

Does it seem like the buzz over transportation is all electric, all the time? If not, it soon could be, as the sale of four-wheel electric drive and electric-assisted commercial vehicles is expected to jump tenfold and innovation in engine-powered two-wheeled transportation is also accelerating.
Three new members joined the GLREA Board of Directors in January: John Freeman, Homeland Solar, Ric Evans, Paradigm Energy Services, and George Stojic, Lansing Board of Water & Light. Officers elected for 2015: President John Sarver, Vice-President Allan O’Shea, Treasurer Mary McGraw, and Secretary Sarah Mullkoff. Board meetings in 2015 will be held the second Wednesday of the month from 4:00-6:00 pm at Michigan Environmental Council, 602 W. Ionia, Lansing. All members are welcome and there is a member comment period at the end of each meeting.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has announced a statewide plan designed to increase access to residential recycling throughout the state. Michigan’s recycling rate for residential household waste is about 15 percent while the national average is 35 percent. A recent study concluded more than $435 million in recyclables in the state are landfilled each year.
