Mason County Planning Commission has approved the $232 million Consumers Energy Lake Winds Energy Park in Riverton and Summit townships. Economic impact studies show the project will create 150 jobs during peak construction and 8 to 12 full-time jobs during operation of the 100 MW wind farm that will produce enough power for 25,000 homes.More

DTE Energy/MichCon (DTE) unveiled a new, four-pump compressed natural gas station in Melvindale, Mich. earlier this month. In 2009, DTE was awarded a $5.4 million grant from Clean Energy Coalition to boost the number of CNG fueling stations in Michigan and to convert 173 Ford Ecoline vans to operate on the fuel. The grant was made possible through the U.S. Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
