Organization’s Description The mission of Michigan Youth Appreciation Foundation through its Metro Detroit Youth Day is to assure that area youth are respected and encouraged to remain in school and become good contributing citizens in our communities. To bring young people and the private and public sector together to improve relationships which emphasizes education, recreation and character-building; with a goal to assure young people of positive and meaningful participation in building a better community, recognizing they are our future and contributing citizens. Michigan Youth Appreciation Foundation’s Metro Detroit Youth Day hosts 30,000 youngsters on Belle Isle each July to mingle with other youngsters of all walks of life for a day of positive and educational activities, sports clinics, entertainment, College Row, workshops on anti-bullying, healthy eating, anti-crime in schools and entrepreneurship. In addition an average of 100 college scholarships are awarded to deserving high school seniors and community service awards are given for community service and academic achievement. We are inspiring our youth to do the most good, stay in school and become productive citizens and future leaders.
