Mark Wyckoff, Director, Planning and Zoning Center at
Michigan State University, Senior Director, Land Policy Institute
Award-winning planner with 40+ years in urban planning,
placemaking and land policy reform
For 175 years, the traditional downtown of South Lyon has not only held onto its heritage but added new charm with every generation. This year’s Heritage Conference will focus on Making Places from historic sites, meeting first in the town’s historic Lyon Theater where keynote speaker Mark Wyckoff will dial in on the strategies of quality placemaking. Heritage Conference participants will also visit the 185-year-old New Hudson Inn in New Hudson, the recently-restored War Dog Memorial, South Lyon’s historic First Presbyterian Church and, of course, a walk around the town. Lunch will be a lesson and served on the street via a food truck rally, followed by the how to’s on making one happen in your town.
