Join us for an all-new FREE Women’s History Month program! On Saturday, March 25 at the Detroit Historical Museum, we will have educational activities and crafts focused on women during wartime.
11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Dr. Caitlyn Perry Dial, representing the Michigan Women’s Historic Center and Hall of Fame, will discuss the role of Michigan women in the Civil War.
12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Ms. Donnaleen Lanktree from the American Rosie the Riveter Association will read stories that the Rosies have provided to her.
2 – 3 p.m. Judge Shannon A. Holmes of the 36th District Court will speak about her experience in the military and the impact it has had on her life.
Throughout the day, children can enjoy craft activites, including button making with the American Rosie the Riveter Association and creating thank you cards for women veterans that will be sent to the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. Guests will also be able to recreate the iconic pose of cultural hero Rosie the Riveter in a special “We Can Do It!” Photo Booth.
An encore screening of “Top Secret Rosies,” our March film series feature, will take place at 9:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.
