Organization’s Description

Our chocolates are “Made Fresh on Premises” using a tried and true three-generation European style family recipe that calls for the highest quality ingredients and attention to design detail.

The “Made Fresh on Premises” concept means that chocolate items do not come pre-packaged from Headquarters, rather that items are prepared and dipped at each individual retail location allowing our franchise owners the flexibility to be creative and customize our fresh products to the customer’s request.

Business Gifting:

Great chocolate is always appreciated.

We make it easy for you to show appreciation to your customers and employees.

Make it personal:

  • Put your logo or commemorate the occasion on a truffle using high resolution transfers – the image is part of the chocolate.
  • Mold your message or logo into a bar of chocolate. Package it as a stand-alone piece with your business card; or in a variety of boxed assortments.
  • Create a custom molded chocolate of your own design.
  • Choose from one of our hundreds of molds to fit the occasion; for example an awards statue for employee anniversaries.
  • Hot stamp your logo and message onto the cover of boxed assortments.

Make it size appropriate:

  • Our boxed assortments are available in a range of sizes from a single truffle to a 48 piece box. Many of these can accommodate a logo or message bar.
  • We create trays of treats from 12″ to 18″ in diameter. These can accommodate a logo or message bar.

Make it timely:

  • You decide the occasion (e.g., holidays, birthdays) and the gift, and provide contact information – we create the gift and make sure it arrives on time.

Chocolate Parties

Host your own Chocolate Party at Birmingham Chocolate.  Enjoy a private, interactive chocolate party in a European style chocolateria where you make chocolate, learn about chocolate and of course… eat chocolate!  All you have to do is show up, enjoy time with friends or business associates, and leave the cleanup to someone else.  Sweet!

Our two hour hands-on chocolate parties are perfect for starting off a bachelorette evening, wedding and baby showers, entertaining customers, team building, birthday parties, anniversary parties and charity fund raising events – or just enjoying the company of good friends.  We will start off with a toast using chocolate champagne glasses. This evening of decadence is “behind the retail counter” where you can try your own hand at the Old World art of hand-dipping truffle centers. You will create your own chocolate bar choosing the type of chocolate and the inclusions.  Learn a little (or a lot) about chocolate through a series of tastings – and we may test your tasting to see how well you have enjoyed great chocolate. You will fill a box with your own selections from the display cases. You will leave with all the chocolates that you have made and selected – but only after having enjoyed an evening of great chocolate and friendships.

You may bring wine, sodas, champagne, bottled water, etc to drink. We will provide sparkling grape juices and make espresso and hot chocolate drinks on request. In season, sample our Italian gelato. You may provide hors d’oeuvres or we can arrange for those at additional cost. Pricing starts at $30 per person, there is a $250 minimum.  We can accommodate up to 35 adults.

There is a $100 deposit to secure a date. The deposit is refundable until one week before the event. The balance due is based on the actual number of participants.

The parties are generally week nights at from 6 to 8, once the shop is closed.

We do not host children’s birthday parties.

The format for our Chocolate Parties is flexible.  Basically, we provide the chocolate and you bring the sweet tooth.

Call to discuss how we can personalize your chocolate party.

Fundraisers

We support over 100 arts and social service nonprofit organizations in our community each year with Gift Certificate Donation Boxes that are perfect for raffles and silent auctions. The winner brings the box to the store and builds their own box. The donation box must be a personal request – we do not respond to mass mail/email requests for donations. The donation box must be picked up – we do not ship or deliver.  On a sponsored basis, we can host Chocolate Party Fund Raisers for up to 35 adults.

Schakolad (pronounced shaq-oh-LAD) – a combination of “Schaked” and “Chocolate” – is a name associated with three generations of chocolate making. Baruch Schaked, co-founder of Schakolad, has been a chocolate maker since 1969. He began his career as a chocolatier in Argentina while working for his father-in-law, Gustavo Bar, who was the owner of one of South America`s largest chocolate factories.

Mr. Schaked traveled extensively throughout Europe to participate in courses and seminars at prestigious schools where he mastered the art of chocolate making. His education and passion paid off in the form of numerous first place awards for his scrumptious, handmade truffles at the world renowned Fontainebleau Chocolate Festival.

And, that is just the beginning of the story.

The Schaked`s chocolate adventure really got started when Baruch Schaked announced that he was selling his chocolate shop in South Florida in order to retire. His son, Edgar, determined to keep the family`s passion alive, scrapped his engineering career to continue the family legacy. In 1995, the first Schakolad Chocolate Factory opened in Winter Park, Florida. In 1999, Schakolad began franchising their unique system, creating national and international awareness as the producers of fine quality chocolates using only the highest quality ingredients.

Although recognition is spreading, Schakolad is determined to stay true to the nostalgia and personal service of the corner family owned chocolateria by making their chocolates fresh, on premises, at each location.

Kosher Chocolate

Many Schakolad Chocolate Factory stores manufacture their chocolate under their local Kosher Supervision. To order online Schakolad Kosher chocolates from our website, select “Yes” in the Kosher Option under the Delivery Address Type in any of the products offered. When you click on the “Add To Cart” button, a list of Schakolad stores that create their handmade chocolates under their local Kosher Supervision will appear. Some stores offer Parve – Vegan chocolate and Cholov Yisroel chocolates. Select the store of your choice or the closest to the shipping address and the order will be sent from the store you chose.

What Does Kosher Mean?

The word kosher is a translation of the Hebrew word meaning “fit” or “proper.” It refers to foods that meet the dietary requirements of Jewish Law. Whether a product is kosher depends on the source of the ingredients and the status of the equipment it is produced on. Kosher certification is the guarantee that the food meets kosher requirements. The process of certification does not involve “blessing” the food; rather, it involves examining the ingredients used to make the food, scrutinizing the process by which the food is prepared, and periodically inspecting the processing facilities to make sure that kosher standards are maintained.
