Company Description:
Green Living Science (GLS) is an outgrowth of Recycle Here!, Detroit’s drop-off recycling center and the city’s neighborhood recycling program. We began working with the Detroit Public Schools in 2007, in partnership with their Office of Math and Science. Since then, we’ve reached more than 40,000 students.
Over the years, we’ve expanded our offerings to include educational programs, recycling programs and interactive tours. We’ve also increased the scope of our constituents to include educators, workplaces, local communities and other like-minded groups. GLS was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2011.
Our Mission:
The mission of Green Living Science (GLS) is to transform Detroit by teaching recycling.
We build awareness of and passion for the environment through education and service. So Detroit and southeastern Michigan can become cleaner, healthier and more sustainable communities.
