To achieve meaningful reductions in non-sustainable resource utilization through promotion of environmental awareness.

Peace Love & Planet (PLP) conducts engaging children’s assemblies promoting the importance of conservation.  We specifically focus on cafeteria waste, dressing volunteers up as a wasteful lunch and then comparing to kids dressed up as a waste-free lunch.  Kids learn why it’s important to protect planet, what our individual responsibilities are and how to shift habits by practicing Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

During the summer PLP initiated a garden plastic recovery program to prevent a portion of the 350 million pounds of plastic waste generated during spring/summer beautification efforts from entering our Michigan landfills.  We collect garden plastic typically not recycled curbside at local farmers markets and nurseries.  To date we have recovered over 30,000 lbs. of plastic.
