$50,000 goal to win matching grant through MEDC’s Public Spaces Community Places initiative
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the City of Southfield today announced a new crowdfunding campaign through Michigan-based crowdfunding platform Patronicity. The campaign will create an interactive art installation along the new Northwestern Highway Pathway in Southfield’s City Centre.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) today announced the awarding of nearly $97 million to 137 municipalities to assist with costs of planning for their sewer system maintenance needs from the Stormwater, Asset Management, and Wastewater (SAW) program.
The SAW program provides grant assistance for the development of asset management plans for wastewater and stormwater, stormwater management planning, stormwater and wastewater project planning and design, and testing and demonstration of innovative technology.
This is the fourth round of SAW grant awards and is further progress toward funding the complete list of 579 SAW grant applicants. This most recent achievement now brings the total number of SAW grant applicants to be awarded funding to 478 and the total dollar amount of SAW grant funding awarded to approximately $365 million. The DEQ’s Office of Oil, Gas, and Minerals has successfully plugged a salt water seep discovered last month in Southfield.More
The Department of Environmental Quality recently discovered a brine seep in Southfield, Mich., at the site of an old oil and gas well drilled in 1939. Although the seep is unrelated to the recent application for a permit to drill the proposed Word of Faith 16-27 exploratory oil and gas well, DEQ staff discovered it during a broad site evaluation for that permit application.More
