DEQ Drone Deployed Over Van Etten Lake As Part Of Wurtsmith PFAS Response
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) this week flew a drone over Van Etten Lake in Oscoda to scout locations for the installation of a wireless all-weather camera system designed to detect foam created by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) discharges into the lake from the former Wurtsmith Air Force base (WAFB). The Michigan PFAS Action Response Team (MPART) today launched a new and improved website designed to keep the public better informed on the state’s work to identify per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS) contamination in the state and protect people from high-level exposures to this emerging class of contaminants.
