Thank you to everyone that joined us and contributed to our successful event.The Friends of Cabrini has partnered with and provided funding for Cabrini alumnus Gregory L. McPartlin and the company he co-founded, Parjana Distribution. The goal of the partnership is to mitigate storm water on the high school’s recently renovated football field (with the objective of expanding the work to the adjacent athletic fields as funding is made available). Dean Allen, the Athletic Director, headed this initiative to partner with Parjana in order to protect the field, which currently does not have a drainage system.
So, what does Parjana do? Parjana® Distribution’s innovative Energy-Passive Groundwater Recharge Product (EGRP®) technology promotes surface infiltration through the installation of EGRP® devices. These devices work by accelerating infiltration into and through the near-surface soils, therefore increasing the volume of storm water that can be stored, infiltrated and ultimately recharged. Surface water that would have pooled or run-off is captured below grade, filtered, and thereby it improves water quality and reduces standing water. More
A team of Detroit nonprofits and businesses began work to launch an initiative focused on tackling Detroit’s storm water management. The project is designed to build upon revitalization efforts across the 300-block area surrounding Detroit’s Central High School while creating jobs for local residents.
In partnership with the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL) at Central High School, the project will create sustainable jobs while addressing urban storm water issues. As the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) is launching a Green Infrastructure Credit Program for customers who reduce the peak flow and volume of storm water runoff on their property, this effort will help create a local workforce to support the adoption of storm water strategies.
Phase I will deploy a storm water management solution at the Central High School softball field that will improve field usability and safety. The ultimate objective is to expand the use of sustainable development at the school and in the surrounding neighborhood as a model for how a community can implement green infrastructure solutions that create local jobs and save money for property owners.More
The field had a problem with poor drainage after heavy rain, with standing water in the center of the field and in one corner. The application of the EGRP will extend playing time and create a softer, more player friendly field.
Parjana Distribution was chosen as host site in the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Professional Fellow Program through the US Department of State and Global Ties Detroit. The purpose of this program is to build partnership contacts for expansion in the Latin America/Caribbean markets.
Parjana Distribution will be hosting Mr. Carlos Casiano Inga, an Environmental Engineer and entrepreneur from Peru over a four-week period. More

Policy and Commerce: Water Management Solutions in the Great Lakes Region will be held at the MSU Detroit Center, 3408 Woodward Ave.

We had a great time at the Life Remodeled event on August 4th at Denby High School in Detroit! Parjana® Distribution was glad to partner with Barton Malow to manage the high school’s stormwater, and was happy to be a part of such a great cause!
