Local employers in need of information technology talent are invited to attend Automation Alley’s “ReConnecting IT Talent to Business” event, March 24, from 3–5 p.m., at Automation Alley Headquarters in Troy. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about the Code ReConnect program and how it can help employers find qualified talent for the positions that are often hardest to fill.
Through Code ReConnect, individuals receive technical training in C#/.NET and SQL Server and are certified as Microsoft Specialists in Visual Studio to help them secure high-level information technology positions at local companies. Upon completion of the training, participants are matched with local tech companies. The next cohort of Code ReConnect students will graduate April 15.
“Code ReConnect has already proven to be a valuable solution for Stahls as we struggled to engage the right IT developer talent we need. Our candidate was very self-directed and required very little time or attention from his mentors to dig right in and contribute,” said Marilyn Elliott, vice president of human resources, at GroupeStahl, a company that mentored a past Code ReConnect graduate.
“Automation Alley’s mission to help grow the tech economy of Southeast Michigan cannot be accomplished without the availability of a robust technical talent pipeline,” said Karol Friedman, Automation Alley’s director of talent development. “Through Code ReConnect, we are matching the local workforce to training and the opportunities they need to take their technology careers to the next level. I encourage local employers to join us at this event to learn more about the program and to find the skilled workers their companies have been looking for.”
The event will begin with registration at 3 p.m. followed by the program from 3:30-5 p.m. The event is free and open to all employers seeking technical talent.
Speakers will include:
• Greg Galat, IT Business Development Representative, Kelly Services
• Teresa Skore, Area Manager, Kelly Services
• Karol Friedman, Director of Talent Development, Automation Alley
The Automation Alley Code ReConnect Program is made possible by a $5 million grant funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, and is an equal opportunity program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.
