Developers of the sustainability Web site GreeningDetroit.com announced the site’s official launch Wednesday.

Developers launched the site as a resource to help protect and prepare the environment for the next generation, a “green” generation. GreeningDetroit.com is a unique resource to help further these efforts in Metro Detroit’s communities by providing an online directory of organizations that provide green products and services.
“We created GreeningDetroit.com for community members looking toward a sustainable future,” said John Carlos, co-founder and executive director of business affairs of GreeningDetroit.com. “The site provides an all-inclusive online directory of information and resources to help consumers make smart, environmentally-conscious decisions about greening their environments — either in their commercial businesses, homes, manufacturing facilities or communities. Simply put, our Web site serves as a directory with a dual purpose — serving as an informational portal and identifying local and state efforts among governments, non-profit organizations and universities toward today’s green movement.”
The GreeningDetroit.com site is organized into three easy-to-use informative sections, representing commercial and industrial buildings, green homes, metro community green news and more.
The Web site offers providers of green products and services the opportunity to promote their services and goods to local businesses and homeowners. In addition, the site also includes interactive learning tips for site visitors and “Helpful Hints” from specialists with ideas for making businesses and homes more environmentally responsible, reducing energy costs and increasing sustainability.
“Our goal is to provide a place to share resources and information throughout southeastern Michigan, while educating businesses and individuals on how to become more environmentally conscious,” Carlos said. “It’s time for area residents to invest in products and services that reduce consumption, save money, are sustainable, environmentally friendly and by doing so create Metro Detroit’s future for a better tomorrow.”
