You’ve probably seen it on a commercial, heard about it on the radio or read it on your Facebook newsfeed. It seems to be a popular topic of conversation, but surprisingly, many people don’t know enough about the importance of it.
Healthy eating is something we could all probably make a better effort to do. With the convenience of fast food and the temptation of holiday deserts, eating the right foods can seem challenging and daunting. However, a recent addition to the Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital is offering locals the help they need to get on the right track.
The Demonstration Kitchen is a 90-seat kitchen auditorium that features a variety of classes each month where visitors can enjoy a meal and learn to prepare healthy food for their families, including family members with special medical conditions.
“Each class features delicious, healthy meal ideas to get you started on your individual path toward optimal wellness,” according to the Henry Ford Hospital Web site. The classes are taught by a number of creative in-house chefs as well as guest chefs.
The Demonstration Kitchen also offers a kids’ program, where children can learn the importance of making healthy choices as well as how to create delicious and nutritious meals.
Each class is designed to teach the essentials of creating successful meals while also having fun, which are kitchen safety, smart shopping, preparation technique, presentation and education.
