DEARBORN, Mich. (February 7, 2011) – Specialty grocer Westborn Market regularly promotes Michigan-made products that are sold through its three stores in metro Detroit and online at www.westbornmarket.com. Now, the company is helping MyNewMarketplace.com, a neighboring Michigan-based online business.
Several of the gift basket items from Westborn Market’s online store are featured in a “shop” MyNewMarketplace.com, a growing online community that helps connect buyers and sellers—locally to nationwide. Each item advertised in Westborn Market’s shop on MyNewMarketplace.com connects directly to the store’s own online shopping cart.
“We don’t take a percentage of the transaction like eBay and other online classifieds,” said Peder Blohm, founder of MyNewMarketplace.com. “As we continue to grow and attract visitors and content on our website, there’s no charge to advertise. We greatly appreciate Westborn Market’s support.”
According to Bryan Bandyk, Westborn Market’s marketing director, opening a shop on MyNewMarketplace.com offers another way to promote Westborn’s gift baskets.
“People may be interested to know that we receive a majority of our online orders from outside Michigan,” said Bandyk. “Many of our gift baskets feature Michigan-made products so having that extra visibility helps all of us.”
Blohm revealed that there will be a new home page and other additions coming soon to MyNewMarketplace.com. “Since we launched the beta version of the website last summer, we have received a lot of excellent suggestions from visitors about the type of online community they want to join,” added Blohm. “We’re listening and evolving as we grow.”
