Ferndale Public Library stays in the loud camp next month when it welcomes two more bands to its First Stop Friday family. Songs from the Moon and 3773 will play a set each on Fri. Apr. 6. Songs from the Moon will also be releasing a 7” at the show entitled Protest Strategies in two formats: CD and 7” with CD.
The First Stop Friday series will also be the subject of a presentation at the Public Library Association Conference in Philadelphia, Penn. on Fri. Mar. 16. Circulation Specialist, Kelly Bennett will be co-presenting with Kalamazoo Public Library Head of Patron Services on concerts in libraries at the national conference.
First Stop Friday is the perfect start to a busy weekend. Shows end early enough for music fans to make it to their next stop or to make it home at a decent hour. The all-ages, no alcohol, non-bar atmosphere provides a unique setting to hear great local music for those who aren’t able to or don’t want to go to a bar. Local talent from all genres of Metro Detroit’s rich music scene is harvested for these intimate, one-of-a-kind shows. First Stop Friday shows are free and open to all ages.
