For the last few years, transportation funding at the Federal level has been surviving practically from month to month, as neither the House nor the Senate could muster the votes needed to pass a comprehensive transportation bill.
Instead, they have “punted” by extending the existing bill time and again. But the Senate finally acted on Wednesday, March 14, in a true bipartisan fashion (74-22). Rick Harnish, of the Midwest High Speed Rail Association, has given us a really informative summary of what’s new about “MAP-21” in this article: http://midwesthsr.org/map21.
I highly recommend it!
