The Dearborn Animal Shelter presents its third annual No Beast Feast fundraiser dinner featuring fresh and hearty vegetarian cuisine. The dinner celebrates the fine art of vegetarian cooking with appetizers, entrees and desserts. Local eateries are participating in serving up specialty dishes, including Bangkok 96 Thai restaurant Dearborn, Inn Season Café, Royal Oak, Henry Ford Community College Culinary Arts School and Park Place Catering, Dearborn.
This year, special guest Dr. Kerrie Saunders will offer insight about how plant-based foods can be nutritional heroes. Dr. Saunders is a nationally known author and presenter, having been featured on television, newspaper and magazines, including her popular “Ask Dr. Kerrie” advice column in VegNews. She will be showing a sneak preview of her brand new Food Demo DVD series, When Bachelor Meets Homemaker (packed with super simple, super nutritional recipes) with pre-sales available during the evening and partial proceeds benefiting the Dearborn Animal Shelter.
Elaine Greene, Executive Director of the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter commented “This is a great way to experience vegetarian fare for those who are curious about new food choices, have vegetarian friends or are simply ready for a fun evening out to benefit the animals in our care”. The evening’s activities also include door prizes, a tin can raffle and entertainment. Attendees can take home recipes to try vegetarian specialties in their own kitchens or pick up a Vegetarian Starter Kit from VegMichigan.
