Henry Ford Community College’s (HFCC) student-run public radio station WHFR-FM (89.3) will host the Fall 2012 Blues Fundraiser concert Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at New Place Lounge, located at 22723 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn. This concert serves as a fund raising event for WHFR-FM.
The evening’s entertainment includes Leonardo, the Chris Canas Band, and Machine Gun Kelly. These blues artists have amazing and diverse musical styles. The concert offers a great opportunity to see these talented blues acts in one spectacular night of live music.
In addition to many other original and eclectic formats featured on WHFR, the station boasts the most blues music played on the airwaves in Metro-Detroit. The non-commercial station must rely on listener support for a large portion of its operation, and this event hopes to bring in some much-needed funding.
New Place Lounge is providing the venue for this concert at no cost to the station. The concert is open to the public (21 or older). There is a modest $5 cover fee at the door. Food and drink will also be available for purchase. All proceeds will benefit WHFR. For further information about this concert, please contact WHFR General Manager Susan McGraw at (313) 845-9842 or whfr-gm@hfcc.edu
