The Detroit Regional Chapter of the US Green Building Council and the Six Rivers Regional Land Conservancy are joining together to present the Emmy® Award-Winning Documentary Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time during a very special evening at Emagine Theatre, 200 N. Main Street, Royal Oak, on Wednesday January 30.

Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time was honored with an Emmy ® award for best historical documentary at the 54th annual Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The awards were presented at Chicago’s Alhambra Theater on Nov. 18.
Green Fire is the first feature documentary tracing the life of the legendary conservationist Aldo Leopold (1887-1948). The father of the national wilderness system, Leopold was a key figure in developing the fields of wildlife management, restoration ecology and sustainable agriculture.
Green Fire was produced by the Aldo Leopold Foundation, the U.S. Forest Service and the Center for Humans and Nature with Wisconsin Public Television as the broadcast partner. The documentary has also won awards at several film festivals, as well as a Silver Telly and a Cine Golden Eagle. Six Rivers Regional Land Conservancy is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit conservation organization whose members and supporters share a commitment to preserving important natural and agricultural lands in the watersheds of the six major rivers of the region—the Belle, Clinton, Flint, Huron, Rouge and Shiawassee in Oakland, Macomb, Lapeer, Genesee and St. Clair counties. Six Rivers works with private landowners using legal instruments like conservation and easements to permanently protect natural or agricultural features of land from conversion and degradation. It also works with public agencies to help them acquire land for parks or other public conservation purposes.
