Peter-Lacke USA — the first U.S. subsidiary of Peter-Lacke GmbH and the most recent graduate of the Automation Alley International Business Center — moved into their new 20,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Troy in July and have already created 12 new jobs in Michigan, with growth plans to at least double in size over the next three to five years. With manufacturing scheduled to begin this month, Peter-Lacke USA will celebrate their grand opening Oct. 13-15.
An international leader of advanced paint systems based in Hiddenhausen, Germany, Peter-Lacke has developed and produced state-of-the art paint systems for leading companies from the automotive, household appliances and electronics industries for more than 100 years.
“We could not have chosen a better avenue to take than Automation Alley as our presence in Southeast Michigan ramped up in 2014,” said John Bilson, chief operating officer at Peter-Lacke USA. “Automation Alley assisted not only by providing us with a modern facility to conduct our day-to-day business operations, including conference rooms equipped with state-of-art technology and equipment, but also by providing us with local business connections for everything from office equipment and furniture retailers to new prospective customers and suppliers. Automation Alley’s employees are all top-notch professionals who became like family to us over the last year.”
Automation Alley, Michigan’s largest technology business association, opened its International Business Center in 2011 to assist international companies interested in locating in Southeast Michigan. To date, Automation Alley has attracted 18 companies to the region, which have created a total of 409 jobs in the region. In addition to providing office space in the IBC, Automation Alley serves as a resource hub for international companies as they open facilities and hire staff in Southeast Michigan.
“We are committed to growing the tech economy in Southeast Michigan,” said Noel Nevshehir, Automation Alley’s director of international business services, “and that commitment is what drives us to make it as seamless as possible for international companies to establish a presence here. These companies create jobs in our region and contribute investment dollars to our region, all while adding to the robust tech and manufacturing ecosystem that Southeast Michigan is known for.”
