The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality will finish the Year of Clean Air – AQD 101 monthly webinar series next week with a webinar focusing on air quality complaints.
The webinar will answer questions such as:
- How are complaints received?
- How does AQD handle specific types of complaints?
- How does AQD conduct complaint investigations?
- What happens after the complaint investigation?
The AQD has 10 offices located throughout the state that employ numerous field staff. Field staff addresses complaints and concerns about air pollution in each district. You can find the contact information and locations of the offices at www.michigan.gov/deq/0,4561,7-135-3306_3329-12306–,00.html.
In the past 12 months, AQD field staff has received 2,486 complaints. The majority of these complaints have been associated with odors, open burning and dust/fallout. In this same time period, the AQD conducted approximately 1,680 on-site investigations to ensure the protection of human health and the environment.
