I want to bring up an extremely important topic that can help save your life … or the life of someone you love. February is all about heart. While Valentine’s Day throws a spotlight on love and romance (hey, flowers and chocolates can be nice!), what matters to me is that your heart is healthy and strong. So I’m using women’s heart health awareness month to urge you to step up and become your own Health Hero! I want to empower you to learn all you can so that you’re able to recognize warning signs, prevent disease and put your health first. Here are a few things you need to know:
- Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women, killing approximately 1 woman every minute.
- Warning signs can be very different for women than for men. Knowing these differences can save your life.
- Shortness of breath, jaw pain, back pain, nausea and flu-like symptoms can be your body’s way of telling you that something might be wrong with your heart.
- Women’s symptoms are often chalked up to stress and eventually dismissed. This can be a life-threatening mistake.
Find out more about how to protect your heart… and the hearts of those you love. I can’t think of a more romantic gift.
Warmly,
Dr. Nandi
