The Michigan Great Lakes Wind Council, an advisory body appointed by Governor Granholm, is hosting a meeting in Dearborn to share information on its recommendations for offshore wind energy and to get input from the public. Granholm will attend.

Time:
- Open house starting at 6:00 p.m. Presentations begin at 6:30p.m., followed by opportunities for discussion and input by participants. Meeting ends at 9:00 p.m.
Details:
- No RSVP is required. Please note that meeting space and materials will be limited based on the capacity of the venues (approximately 250 maximum).
Meeting Topics: Information will be presented on the council’s work and its recommendations, followed by interactive sessions from the public to provide input to the council. Information and discussion will be focused on:
- Emerging offshore wind energy trends and the impetus for creating of the council
- Criteria recommended by the council to identify and map the least and most favorable areas for development of offshore wind energy in the state’s Great Lakes
- Elements of a proposed regulatory framework to establish a clear process in state law to review any sitting applications for offshore wind energy projects on state-owned bottomlands.
